Before you begin

Make a note of your device, browser version, exact symptoms, and any displayed error. If your browser contains important unsynced passwords, bookmarks, or open work, back them up before resetting settings or clearing data.

Step-by-step checks

  1. Confirm storage space and file download permissions.
  2. Check the browser downloads list for the precise error message.
  3. Try a small file from a trusted site and inspect the configured downloads folder.
  4. For printing, test the system printer with another application and inspect print preview.
  5. For PDFs, check the viewer settings and whether the file itself opens elsewhere.

If the problem continues

Test whether the issue happens in a second browser, a private window, or a separate trusted network. This helps distinguish a browser problem from a website, device, or internet problem. Avoid disabling certificate warnings, antivirus protection, or company policies just to make a page load.
